It's not Easter, so I omitted the crossed part. I'm pretty scared - this is my first forage into using yeast in my baking. I found what seemed like the most friendly recipe - unfortunately for me there are no cancer-friendly recipe guides with food you actually want to eat. So I used half wholewheat flour and half kamut flour. They are in the oven now, and I am curious to see the result.
update - they were hard as rocks and practically inedible. But if you sliced them thinly and spread them with a little butter and a cup of tea, they were somewhat edible.
steamed banana pudding
I found the perfect steamed pudding base - courtesy of the Three Chimneys hot marmalade pudding recipe. My experimentation with marmalade earlier in January had me finding the perfect 'lud' and left me with skimmings to make into pudding. Anyway, I've made apple cinnamon flax pudding, and this one is banana, by adapting the Three Chimneys' recipe .
